Weddings, as joyous and convivial as they are, are also riddled with past dramas embedded in family relations, past hardships, and he said she said dynamics. A wedding suddenly becomes the perfect excuse to bring up Aunt Josie's divorce, Uncle Stew's bad parenting, and your own mother's hidden demons. The protagonist in this story has a vendetta against his brother, and it's all wedding related. His brother told him before his wedding that he was going to propose to his girlfriend there. The protagonist told him it's forbidden, and that he better not. He warned him that if he does propose, then he'll kick him out, to which their mother gets involved and says she's going to leave as well. 

So the brother does it – he proposes to his girlfriend. Years down the line, the protagonist resurfaces the old wound that he stole the spotlight at his wedding.   • The mother is the real perpetrator in this story. It's absolutely clear that the other brother is the golden child. Why is it okay for him to propose at his brother's wedding, but his brother can't announce his wife's pregnancy?
